How Chief Information Officers can dramatically increase their impact on the business by knowing the right tools to adopt generative AI
In March 2023, KPMG conducted a survey of 300 global executives across a wide range of industries, and a follow-up survey three months later. That 2023 KPMG Generative AI Survey report reveals what executives across industries expect from generative AI and what concerns they have about using the technology.
In the March survey, business leaders listed IT overwhelmingly as the top area where they are planning to deploy generative AI for the greatest impact, and “performing self-service HR functions” and “analyzing customer feedback” as the use cases they are prioritizing—the implication being they are turning to the CIO to implement this technology regardless of where in the organization it will be used.
This companion report to the survey looks at the pivotal role CIOs can play in implementing this transformative technology. It walks through the first 90 days of a generative AI implementation and the critical tasks that must be accomplished. And it discusses the opportunities it presents for CIOs to prove they are proactive, forward-thinking, innovative leaders who are essential to the organization’s growth and success.
